No matter how many articles you read, how many outlines you write up in a Word document, or how many people you ask for advice, there will always come that time where you experience an impenetrable writer’s block.

Often times, writer’s block is triggered by lack of motivation or fear. When we don’t feel like we have anything to say or are afraid of what we’ll say in our blog posts, it’s easy to get flustered and end up feeling uninspired.

Blogging writer’s block is an all-too-common problem that plagues every blogger who prioritizes their writing. We’ll teach you how to avoid blogging writer’s block for the rest of your life!

1. Stop Writing When You’re Not Feeling It—It’s Okay!

As a writer, you may be feeling discouraged and want to give up. But just remember that this is a temporary state of mind.

Writing is a craft that requires persistence and resilience. You might encounter days where you feel like the words aren’t coming; when it feels like all of your ideas are exhausted; when you can’t find the right word; or when you suddenly lose your train of thought after being so immersed in your writing. This doesn’t mean that you should give up on writing altogether, it’s just part of the creative process and it will pass with time (and patience!).

Break down big blog writing goals into more manageable steps to achieve them.

Write a long-term blog post plan in order to create a sense of direction for your content. This will also help you to figure out what kind of content you should be creating, what kind of topics you should be focusing on, and how often you should publish posts.

Outline the content for each post before writing it. It is important to know what points you want to make so that your thoughts are not scattered and hard to follow for your readers.

Be mindful about your time management as well – don’t overwhelm yourself with being too ambitious with deadlines and end up missing one or two posts because they were delayed too long.

3. Don’t Be Afraid of Sharing Your Ideas With Others (Even If They’re Crazy)

You need to have some type of vision in order to create a blog. You can’t just write about nothing because readers will think you’re crazy and not want to come back.

You need to have an original idea or concept that you want to share with your readers. You can’t just start writing and hope that something will come up on its own – that’s like being a writer without having any knowledge of the English language or grammar.

In other words, don’t be afraid of sharing your ideas with others even if they are crazy because it will make you more creative which is what we all want to be.

4. Write Down Your Goals and Keep Them in Sight Where You Work (Or Close to You Wherever You Go)

The best way to keep your goals in sight is to write them down. This way, you are more likely to succeed at your goals.

A great strategy for success is to write down a list of what you want to achieve with your blog or content. And then, make a list of the steps that will help you accomplish these goals. The next step would be to track and evaluate these objectives on a regular basis. That way, if you’re not meeting your goal, you can adjust your tactics and try again until you get it right!

5. Don’t Let Social Media Dictate What You Write About (Or How Often)

Social media is part of the mix in content creation and distribution, but it shouldn’t be dictating what you write about.

Many bloggers base their posts on what they already know will resonate with their followers. Their social media feeds are a reflection of what they have chosen to share before.

This is not a way to grow your blog. You need to create content that will be shared with your followers, but also create content that may not be shared at all, but will still attract new readers. 

6. Keep the Creative Juices Flowing with These Activities: Daydream, Read Books, Listen to Music or Podcast

Read a book (or two) by your favorite author, take a walk, go on a bike ride or just daydream. Next time you need some creative juice to write about the latest and greatest in the tech industry, you will have no problem getting started.

A few of my favorite activities to keep my blogging creative juices flowing are reading books by authors I admire, taking a walk in nature or going on a bike ride with friends. There are also certain things I avoid that can drain my creativity and make it hard for me to focus on writing. Working on a computer for long hours, being distracted by social media and reading too many news articles are things that I avoid.

7. Liven up your office space with plants or a mood-boosting playlist, or both!

Plants are a great way to increase your mood. Research has shown that having plants in your office space has a positive impact on the mood and productivity of employees.

The benefits of plants are not limited to an increase in mood and productivity. They also have a positive effect on the work environment by reducing noise pollution, absorbing harmful chemicals, and improving air quality. Plants also attract attention for people who work in open offices, which is an added bonus!

Music is a powerful source of mood boosting for many people. It can evoke memories or make the listener feel happy. There are many studies that show how music can affect mood. Experiments with infants have been shown that the tempo of music can help to calm them. It has also been shown that music helps those with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia to be more engaged.

So if you need some inspiration, crank up those tunes!

8. Get out of the house and do things that you enjoy outside of work like going to a museum, hiking, or shopping with friends – just do something you love that is not related to work!

We spend a lot of time at work. We spend a lot of time at home. For many, work is pay check and for others, it’s passion. For both, there are times when you need inspiration to get the creative juices flowing.

Getting out of the house can replenish your creativity and re-energize your focus. I suggest you take some time off from your ever growing list of ideas to do things that you enjoy outside of work like going for walks in nature or trying a new sport or hobby. 

9. Engage in conversation and ask for emotional support from friends and family

The importance of emotional support is often overlooked. A simple message on social media or a phone call can do wonders for your mental state.

When you’re going through a personal hardship, it’s inevitable that it will have an impact on your work.

Even if you think you’re coping well and find the time to do your job, without someone there for support it can be difficult to maintain your emotional health. This is why it can be so important to have someone who is willing to emotionally support you in times of need.

10. Let go of any perfectionist tendencies – write it first, edit it later! Stop trying to figure out what is going to happen before you sit down and start typing

The feeling of being a perfectionist can be crippling to creativity and progress in any area. Achieving perfection is not always possible and does not even really matter. What is important is that you write something and do it quickly. If you want to edit it later, go ahead! It’s better to have a good draft than no draft at all.

You may have read that writing is a process, not a product. This is true. All of the writing you do throughout your life will never be perfect or flawless at the time of creation. That’s why it’s important to write first and edit later.

11. Use prompts like the ABC game or word association to get started writing a blog post

The ABC game is a creative tool that can be used to generate ideas for blog posts.

This technique involves listing words from A-Z on a sheet of paper and starting with the letter “A”. You then follow up with the letter “B” and so on. It’s like a word association game where you have to list quick responses or topics for each letter.

This technique can be really helpful for people who have writer’s block or who are unsure about what they want to write about. It gives them some ideas and prompts them in the right direction while they write.
